DEAR COACH: WHY I CAN’T BE AT PRACTICE TODAY

By Coach Larry Dean Jackson copyright 2002

I won’t be working out today,

I’m feeling mighty low:

I’ve got a hurting in my side

and I just mashed my toe.

I’ve pulled a muscle in my back

and couldn’t sleep last night,

It seems my appetite is gone

I just can’t eat a bite.

I guess you’ve heard I’ve been real sick

and I really can’t get out of bed,

I just can’t seem to find a thing

to ease my aching head.

I sure do wish that I could workout

for the practice I’m a needing

I’ve had three more teeth pulled out,

and they won’t stop bleeding.

I thought I’d have to stay home today

I’m so sick and blue,

I’ve caught myself a cold

and I think I’ve got the flu.

I know you saw me up in town

I didn’t try to hide.

For you must know my car is broke down

and I’d just missed my ride.

The doctor says my blood is low,

my life is filled with sorrow,

I’m too near dead to workout today

BUT I’LL BE READY FOR THE GAME TOMORROW!
